Just Growing..

We had a good weekend. Lately Baby D and I have been going on walks on the weekend. He seems to like them, and eventually falls asleep in the stroller. Saturday we ran around him and I , to develop film, for a walk at the park, then to the grocery store. He was really good the entire time. Then we came home and relaxed and I cooked dinner and my Mom came over. It was a really nice day. Sunday we went to Chris and Julie's in Stockton. Chris and Keith had a playdate so Baby D and I hung out with Julie and Ivy. We had a really good time, so much that I don't think Keith was quite ready to leave but it was getting late. We got home by 9pm. It was a really good day. Ivy is so cute, and so excited about her younger sister's upcoming arrival. I was very happy when Julie went to go get lunch and she stayed with Darrian and I at the house, we had a nice chat about school and all things going on in her world. She is precious.

Today, baby D was jumping in his jumperoo and I guess he just got tired! :)

This is blurry but funny, he feel asleep in his swing with his finger in his mouth like this. We were trying to get a picture and he woke up with this look on his face and his finger still in his mouth.

Cirque Du Soliel Comes to SF...

For Christmas we got Mom tickets to go see the Cirque Du Soliel Show Kooza. It was two Saturday's ago, her and I went and had a great time. The show was AMAZING! The things these people do are crazy, and mind bending. We left Concord and went to have lunch in Sf, we ate at Momo's which is right across from AT&T ballpark. Food was really good, service was really slow. I took a picture (above) of the heart they have outside their place. These hearts are all over SF in different landmarks, for the "I left my heart in SF" theme. They all have different paintings on them. This one is like an olive because that is Momo's namesake the Martini olive. Too cute. The second picture is the Cirque tent.

What a difference a year makes..

I just realized that a year ago today I was laid off by Unisource. What a difference a year makes. I remember thinking I had the carpet pulled out from under me. I remember being so worried about not finding a place I liked, or people I liked to work with. A week later I had a new job, so much closer to home, with wonderful people who I really enjoy working with. I was lucky. Crazy how time flies, and how things change.. and how what sometimes feels like the worse thing possible turns out to be the biggest blessing. :)

Hope you are all having a great week! It is almost Friday. Hard to get back into the swing of a week without a holiday in it :)

We have had a pretty good week, it has been low key for the most part. Seems like everyone is sick. Darrian is getting cuter and cuter by the day, and very inner active. We opened Natalie's Christmas gifts last night, she got us great gifts. She got Darrian the CUTEST little jacket, it is ADORABLE! It is a sweatshirt with fur on the inside, so cute. Also a shirt that says "Ladies Man" which Keith and I thought was pretty cute. She spoiled him (and us), thank you Auntie Natalie!

I put some pictures in here from our trip to SF on Sunday. We went to exchange K's wallet from Gucci and then went to eat at the Cheesecake factory. Darrian actually did really good with it all.

Three Months makes a BIG difference!

Saturday I took Darrian to get some 3 month pictures, he is a little older than 3 months (almost 4) but he turned three months right in the heart of Christmas Season so we waited.

I kept going back and fourth on what photographer to use and decided to use the same one we used for the newborn shots. I want to get more photojournalistic shots but I am waiting to find the perfect photographer for that.

Darrian did really good, he was of course a flirt with the photographer. He was all smiles and talking to her which was cute. Although every time he saw the flashes go off, or the camera in front of her face he would look a little serious. We won't get the pictures back for a few weeks but she posted a article on him on her blog, and a slide show.

She has this teacup she takes babies pictures in, the first time she did it he basically fell into the teacup. She thought it would be cute if we did it again to show how much he has grown! Boy has he grown!

Last night I was taking some pictures of Darrian and this hat. He looks really cute in hats, and isn't at the age to tear them off just yet. This is one that Daddy picked out for him right after he was born, he wanted him to wear it home but it covered his whole face :). We forgot about it for a while and then last night I decided to take some pictures of him in it. He was a pretty good sport.

Hope everyone had a great new years weekend. We didn't do much, just hung around the house mainly. Saturday my Mom and I went to see Walking with Dinosaurs, it was very good. I will try and post pictures soon. Sunday I wasn't feeling great, got some shopping done in the morning, and my Mom got me the kitchen aid mixer :). Spent the rest of time in bed... and playing with Darrian. Monday went shopping for new years eve, then we just cooked and I used my mixer. We stayed up for midnight then went to bed. Today we just hung out all day in our PJs. It was SO nice.. watched football and relaxed. A perfect ending to a great weekend!

Pictures again...

So as I get ready to have Darrian's 3 month photo's taken I find myself trolling all sorts of photographer websites and blogs. I am looking for ideas, and for a photographer who is reasonably priced and does the type of pictures I am looking for. I think in a former life, or in this life I long to be a professional photographer. I LOVE pictures. I love taking pictures. I honestly think the Canon XTI SLR I got for my birthday this year was the best gift I have ever ever gotten. Who knew I was already creating my favorite subject (Darrian) when I opened it! I want to go to classes and learn more about it, photoshop, and get lenses for it.

I admire the work of others who have already mastered the trade. So today I ran across this website of a photographer.. http://portrait.nicholev.com/. It honestly takes my breath away. Her pictures are amazing and her price is reasonable. One glitch.. she is in Utah. I honestly wondered for a minute how much it would be to fly there.. haha. I did send her an email and let her know how much I admired her work and if she was EVER in the area I would love to have her take Darrian's pictures. Hey I can hope right?

Bumbo..

So searched everywhere for a "bumbo", the mothers in my Mom's group recommended it. It helps a child sit up who can't sit up yet. Darrian loves to sit up so it is nice to put him in it and set him next to us and not have to sit him on our lap all the time.

Jumperoo...

Darrian likes his Jumperoo we got him for Christmas.. here are some pictures of him playing with it.

His feet don't touch the floor so we use a pillow :)
He's trying to figure out the monkey. It lights up to reward him for jumping which he likes. And the chair turns around full circle to play with everything on the saucer..

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. It comes and go so quickly huh? We had a good Christmas and Santa was kind to all of us. Saturday we went to Lynda's for a Christmas get together, and exchanged gifts with everyone. It was fun and Darrian did really good with all the people. Sunday my Mom and I took Darrian to SF to fight the crowds and go to Gucci to get Keith a wallet he wanted. It was pure insanity in Union Square, I ran into Gucci then ran back to the car ... nuts! We then went to lunch and came home. Our nephew Devan and his girlfriend Tan flew in that night and we hung out. Monday was pretty lowkey, wrapping gifts and hanging out. Our other Nephew Jason flew in that night, Tan and I stayed behind and wrapped gifts.

I went to midnight Mass that night, the service was really nice. After I went home and we all opened gifts. Darrian was even awake! I got some great gifts.. coach purse, perfume, iphone docking station from Keith and Coach shoes, digital frame, fondue set, giftcard from my Mom.

Darrian got lots of great gifts too and seems to like the jumperoo Keith and I got him.

Christmas day we had family over and I cooked dinner for everyone.

All in all it was a great holiday weekend... I have pictures that I am trying to post but it isn't working for me.

In the meantime I wanted to share this great website I found with baby beanies! They only have 6-12 mo. as the smallest size but I am going to get some for Darrian. I think they are so cute !

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone... Sorry I have not posted in a while. It has gotten busy with the holidays rushing up quickly upon us. So much to accomplish in so little time. Also in true Thornton fashion it wasn't a holiday without some drama. Most of you know my sister-in-laws can be a true pain, if not this blog isn't long enough to capture the 10 years of drama. I will say when a family emergency came up last weekend I found myself blessed to have friends I could call on that put their own lives on hold to be there. Especially Devyn, Chris, Julie and my Mom... they have shown Keith and I how truly blessed we are. That no gift under the tree will compare to the gift that they have given us. We are forever in debt. As Devyn said I had my own little "Christmas Miracle" ... now we move on towards Christmas hopefully drama free.

We got a tree for Christmas, I haven't been able to get enough pictures of Darrian in front of it because I have had to upload pictures and I hadn't had the time. Finally I did and wanted to share our tree shopping pictures, and the final product here.

The first picture is Keith's "shot out" to Bernice, from Darrian. Bernice is Donna's best friend since Keith was in diapers. She holds a special place for him, and she always calls now to comment on the blog so Keith wanted Darrian to say "hi"!
