Thanksgiving......

We had a great Thanksgiving! Chris and Julie were nice enough to have us for Thanksgiving. It was nice to spend time with them, and Keith of course loved it because he got to eat some of Julie's Mom's great cooking. It was a lot of fun. The kids played, we looked at ads, then we played this board game where you say a word in a odd way and others have to guess what your saying. The problem is the word is chopped up and makes you sound really special when you say it. Chris was really good at figuring them out though :) humm.

I did not get many pictures, but got a few. Hope you all had a great day, and ate lots of turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving.....

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow and enjoy yummy meals with family and friends.

Sometimes it is hard to keep in mind all we do have to be thankful for. Often times it is much easier to focus on what we have lost, what we don't have in our life. Negative seems to outweigh the positive often. However, it is this time of year that reminds us of what we shave. Of all we should be thankful for everyday, and not just when holidays with "thank" in the title roll around. I am guilty of it myself. This year I challenged myself to be thankful for something each day, and post it on Facebook along with others who were challenging themselves to do the same. I have to say some days it was hard, but I am glad I did it.

I am always thankful for my son, my husband, my Mom, my friends. It is remembering the smaller things.

Darrian has brought us so much meaning to life. There is not a day that goes by that I don't smile at least once. His simple phone calls to me when I am work "heeeyyyy youuu!!", bring a brightness to my day. Everyday something to make me smile. I am thankful for him, and I am thankful to be able to be his Mom. Keith and I are better people because of him.

I am thankful for my blessings, for life.

Hope you have a chance to remember all you do have this Thanksgiving, and to be thankful.

Love,
The Thornton's

Still Big Shoes to fill....

Darrian still loves wearing Daddy's shoes.. he can walk in them now, but hopefully has a long time before he fits them. Speaking of growth today was Darrian's 2 year check up. Rave reviews on all ends, development and growth both ahead of the game. He was very friendly with the Dr. and the Dr. was impressed with how social he was. This was a new Dr. and I liked him...
His stats: 38 1/4 inches tall, and 37.4 lbs. !! Dr. said he is about the size of a average 3.5- 4 year old.

Glad he's healthy but would like him to slow down a bit. I fear a teenager who is going to tower over me someday.

9 months old.

A fun playdate

I am behind in posting. I have a few I want to share, but don't have the pictures with me. Grr. So we will do one I do have the pictures for. We got together with our friends the other day for a play date. One of our friends was in town for the holidays from Texas so we gathered the troops to meet up and hang out together. It was a lot of fun, and I loved that Darrian and I were able to join in the fun. Kelli hosted it at her lovely new home, and had great play areas set up for the kids. Great hostess.

At one point I was holding baby J and I thought Darrian would freak out that I was holding another baby. Sometimes I am so far off the mark. He didn't care that I was holding the baby, he only cared that he was not holding the baby! Katie was nice enough to let him hold J and it was SO precious.

J dub is getting so big!

Shocking that D wanted to spend his time in the car..

and painting..

D and baby J sooooo sweet!

blog Challenge #7

It's Friday the 13th! Do you have any superstitions?

I do and I don't. I don't have the normal one's like crossing a black cat, or Friday the 13th, or those type of things. I think I believe more in not wanting to jinx stuff. So once I bet on the Niners and they lost, so I will never bet on them again. I believe that certain things bring me good luck and some bring me back luck is that superstitions? I'm not sure, I try to talk myself out of doing them but it never works.

D's birthday party blogged..

I kept meaning to post about how Darrian's party was featured on Party Dress {children} ! I love this blog, her ideas are so amazing. Someone asked if I get anything for having it featured, I don't other than the honor of having it featured. I also get a chance to rave about the vendors who helped me put my long winded ideas to life, and they often get business from the online mention. That makes me happy.

You can check the article out here . She has lots of other great parties on there beyond just Children one's, quite the party hostess!

Flashback Friday

Since Darrian is all about Grandma right now, I thought this was appropriate.

I love these, do you?

Look at these great ideas for decorating for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. I love the pilgrim hats the most with the marshmellow on the cookie! What a cute idea. I may just have to do this. You can see more ideas here, and figure out how to get your holiday crafty-ness on! :)

Apple Hill...

The Mom's and Grandma's

This weekend we went to Apple Hill. I love Apple Hill. I have only been twice, and I want to go every year. It is so pretty there, and so fun to be at the different farms. This was Darrian's first year, and he really loved it. I will say that going with a child is harder, once they are out of the car it is hard to convince them to get back in, get out, get back in.. He was a trooper though.

Mom and I drove to Pam's house in Roseville, then we all drove to Debbie's house in Apple Hill together. D's godparents and god sisters met us at Debbie's house. I have to say I thought we would beat them to Apple Hill, be at a farm, and have them meet us there. So I gave them Debbie's address (IN Apple Hill) as a starting point to get them on the road, and well it took Pam a year to get out of Roseville so they beat us. Called me during in and out cellphone coverage to ask why the hell they were sitting in front of someones house. LOL. Meanwhile inside, Debbie was wondering who was just sitting in the car outside her house and pulled out the binoculars to spy.

Darrian promptly upon seeing the L clan wanted to ride in their car, I think we have started a trend. It makes me happy though that Darrian loves them, and is comfy with them since we choose them as godparents because we hope he will go to them to seek advice from them as he gets older. So rejection is made a little better. :)

We had a really good group, it was Debbie, Mom, Pammy, Chris, Julie, the kids, Me, D, Heather and Braxton. Lily and Darrian boycotted naps and did really good the whole day. Braxton was woken up but didn't seem to mind since he got to come and play with everyone. It was a lot of fun. I was worried that Chris or Julie wouldn't like it, and that is a far drive to not like something. They did though so that is good, and maybe I can talk them into going back next year.
I took a million pictures. Some highlights were riding horses, riding bikes, and "roller coasters", bounce houses, farm animals, wine tasting, a tractor, and everything Apple you could ever imagine. Best of all, hanging out with friends and family you have known forever, and the amazing setting.
After we went to Debbie's house in the woods, and she treated us to dinner. The boys played so cute together (till Darrian played catch with a block), and are so fun to watch. I am proud of Debbie for doing what she always wanted to do when a time of change presented itself. Not an easy thing to do.

Ms. Lily is so precious, she has the greatest personality. She was so sweet with D and helping push him up the hill in her stroller.

D on the tractor, aren't the colors amazing?

Braxton was a PRO on the Roller Coaster and he has the sweetest laugh.

First spin on a horse. :)

Guess what D wants for Christmas ? The hardest part of the day came trying to get him off this thing.

A lovely view.

The MOST precious part of the day. Braxton and Darrian holding hands at the farm. SOO sweet.

Mr. B is so cute. My mission is to get a picture of his eyes on camera cause they are amazing.

Awh don't you just love sisters??

Ivy and Malia were naturals on the horse, I think horse lessons should be in their future.

Girls enjoying the apples.

B was so cute on the horse, he kept hitting the saddle and saying "honk, honk". LOL.

D's first ride, thank you Heather! He was a little leery, but once they started moving he was good.

Girls with the hay maze.

Good times! Thank you Pammy for letting us stay in your home, we had the best time.

Blog Challenge #5 & #6

I am falling behind here. I am going to catch up and do a two-in-one post :) .

Blog Challenge #5 What is your favorite Halloween candy of all time?

I think of Whoppers when I think of Halloween, don't ask me why. I remember getting them in my Halloween bag growing up. I love how they melt in your mouth! Yummy. I remember having candy for MONTHS when we went trick or treating. However the Whoppers would all be gone first. I haven't had any in years..

Blog Challenge #6 If money were no object, what would you do with your time?

The short answer is I would travel more. I would volunteer, stay at home with D, and travel a bunch. I would want him to see the world, and spend months at a time oversees in different countries. I would want him to be around different cultures and lifestyles, and I think he would learn so much from it. I also would have a blast, I think Keith would have a great time exploring different places too. A constant vacation :)

Also in this post wanted to mention some changes on the blog. Most of you get emails when I update. I think I like this because you get to see what is going on automatically, but sometimes for post that are not that interesting I think I should turn that feature off and you would log on via the web to see post. I can not do it one by one, so I am undecided at the moment.

I have been changing the blog a lot, the layout, pictures in the header, and tags on each post. This would help you find post that are like the one that you are reading. Here is the blog address check it out : www.dnmthornton.blogspot.com

One Holiday down, two more to go.

We had a great Halloween. We were suppose to go over to Chris and Julie's and spend the night and go trick or treating with them... but Keith got sick. So we stayed home. I was really bummed that Darrian wouldn't have anyone to trick-or-treat with, but he seemed to have fun regardless. We went around the neighborhood, and Grandma came with us. Darrian really liked having her walk to the door with him. He would go up and knock, then step back and hold Grandma's hand. He occasionally said "treat", and he got pretty good at holding out his bucket. I have pictures, just haven't had a moment to upload them.

This weekend I also scored and got a bike trailer I had been looking for on Craigslist. I have been stalking CL since the summer looking for one of these. They retail anywhere between $120-500.00 depending on brand. I really didn't want to spend more than $50.00. I found a few, but they were sold by the time I asked about them. I finally found one for $20.00!!! I couldn't believe it. It needed a good wash, and has some pen marks on one of the windows... but overall great shape. Score! I just need a bike. I am also stalking CL for that, and saw a super cheap one on Walmart if I don't find anything cheaper. Although it is hard having this carrier and not being able to take it for a spin, hopefully soon.

Now we move onto Thanksgiving, November came so quick! This weekend we are going to Apple Hill with Pammy and meeting Debbie up there. I can't wait. I love the fall and it looks so fall up there, should be fun. There were some reports of rain but it looks like they are going to hold off or start on Friday instead..*fingers crossed*.

Finally wanted to share a FREE turkey day decor download from one of my favorite etsy sellers Paper&Cake. They were nice enough to share with their customers, and I am sharing with you. :)
