A train ride

In keeping the birthday celebrating going, I told my Mom what I wanted for my birthday was to take Darrian on Amtrak to Old Sacramento. This was a trip I used to do often with my Mom when I was a kid, and I always loved it. Darrian is obsessed wtih trains. He will play for hours with them, and make up narriations for them. It is really cute. I love to see his excitement, that is a gift to me.
So last Saturday we set off, I talked to D about it all week so he was really excited. We got to the train station and he waited in anticipation for the train to arrive.

We took a seat and D was so happy and excited to be on a REAL train.

Me I took the opportunity to take a million pictures of him. I realized I rarely get to just sit and take his picture. He usually won't just sit, and two there is always something else needing to be done. It was really nice to have the opportunity to capture him. Even if it did start out like this..

But he warmed up and I was able to get these..

When we got off the train we went to lunch at Joe's Crab Shack, it was good but I think we ordered the wrong thing and next time I will order something a little less labor intensive (cracking shells is messy).
After lunch we walked around Old town checking out the trains and shops.

We then ran back to the train, ok well D ran. The boy loves to run.

We got aboard the train and enjoyed the ride back home, Darrian picked up a new train along the way. It was a great day. It was nice to spend time with just Darrian. I have taken him to lots of solo playdates, but this was just him with us not running off with friends. We had a great day.

A year older ..

I am a year older. A year wiser? Maybe. I celebrated my 31st birthday on Feb. 4th. What a year it has been. I celebrated my birthday by getting this.

A fancy new Mini-van. I don't have a same feelings towards mini-vans that others do, I guess because I never thought a car made me cool. It is practical, and really I have ALWAYS wanted to be a "soccer Mom" and this is just a step in the right direction. Lol. I love that the seats fold into the floor, and I love the storage, and I love the sliding doors, and well I love it...

I also celebrated my birthday by going out to lunch with all my boys. I was worried that we were making a huge mistake but I think overall I call it a success. The plus side to having a big family is that by the time you have lifted the strollers, car seats, buckled, put away left overs, gotten in the car yourself, buckled.. well you have worked off any lunch you may eaten. It was a good day.

I also wanted a van because I wanted to get out of the house with all three kids. What? you call me crazy.. well I might be. I have always been an on the go type person and did not want the fact that we had twins to limit that. In the week we have had the van I have been to target on my own with three kids, but I met friends there so I cheated a bit. I went and ran a bunch of errands with Darrian and Quincy, and then went to the outlets and target with all three, then went to a birthday party with Darrian and Quincy. It's been good to be able to get out and I look forward to actually going some places when the weather gets better.

The boys have been doing great. Darrian likes to tell people he loves them, like random strangers. He also is very friendly. We were waiting for the car the other day, he had his football with him and he asked a woman passing by if she wanted to play. Then asked her where she was going, then proceeded to tell her he loved her and have a good day. Goodness. I am in trouble.

Miles is smiley. The other day when I walked into the room he let out this squeal and a huge smile when he saw me. Quincy is smiley too, he just makes you work for it a bit. He has the sweetest face, these big brown eyes. Melt my heart. Both boys are laughing out loud, cooing lots, Quincy doesn't cry as much as he kinda yells out when he wants something. Both have good head control. Darrian is great with them, and very protective.

I got these pictures of Quincy the other day when he was in the swing. He looked up at me and I ran to get the camera.

Two Month Check up..

I mentioned in a previous post that I took the boys to their two month check up. They do it at 6 weeks now since they want to get the booster shots for whooping cough in them sooner. I was actually ok with this because the boys had had a cold and a cough and I found myself googling online to see what it sounded like and comparing the cough to that, you know me I worry and I wanted to make sure they could not catch it so the vax was welcomed.

Anyhow the visit went great. I really like our pediatrician, he reminds me of my old pediatrician. The Dr. said both look good, growing good. I was a little worried because Miles feels so much heavier than Quincy, I thought maybe Quincy was not getting enough even though they eat the same amount. However the weight is not that far off, the Dr. said they just have different bone structure and ways they are built. Miles is more like Darrian in that he feels "solid".

Miles weighed in at 10 lbs 11.4 oz , and he is 22 1/4 inches long.
Quincy weighed in at 9 lbs 13.3 oz and is 21 3/4 inches long.

Darrian at his 2 month appt. but it was really two months not 6 weeks weighed 11 lbs 13.8 oz and was 22 inches long. Remember though he started out at 4 lbs 6.8 oz so he did quite a bit of catching up.
