Third Book...

I finished this book about a week or so ago, I thought it was really good and interesting. The book was called The Mistress's Daughter, and it was about :

An adopted child, Homes was contacted by her biological mother for the first time in 1992, when Homes was 31. She discovers that her mother had become pregnant while having an affair with a married man, the owner of the dress shop in the Washington, D.C., area where she had worked since she was 15. Their child was one of 1 million or more babies given up at birth during a phase in American history when single mothers were shunned. Homes' birth mother never married, never had another child.

I thought this quote basically summed up the book best:

"The fragile, fragmented narrative, the thin line of story, the plot of my life, has been abr uptly recast. I am dealing with the divide between sociology and biology: the chemical necklace of DNA that wraps around the neck sometimes like a beautiful ornament -- our birthright, our history -- and other times like a choke chain."

It was really interesting to hear the story from her perspective, and to see her express her lifetime hopes vs. reality of what was true.

Ivy's 7th birthday

This past weekend we celebrated Ivy's 7th birthday. I can't believe she is 7! I have been so lucky to love this little girl since before she was born. Ivy will ALWAYS find something nice to say to you, it's so sweet. If it's my shirt, my necklace, whatever she always makes a point to compliment something. I think it is very sweet quality for a 7 year old to have. On Saturday I volunteered for my free day at Disney (more on that later) and then Darrian and I went to spend the weekend at Chris and Julie's house. Chris is out of town, so it was just the girls, Julie and us. The kids had fun playing, and Julie and I watched a movie that night. The next day we celebrated with gifts, and cake. Good times.

Finished Book Number Dos...

I finished book number two yesterday, The Choice by N. Sparks. It was just ok. The story was good and a fast read, but the story built up built up.. and then fizzled. I thought he spent more time telling the non-important part, that when it got to the good part it just happened all of a sudden and didn't have a lot of reason behind it. Almost like he was trying to hurry up and tell the story. Not great. Let's hope number three is better than number one or two... I will keep you posted.

Nicole's 30th birthday party!

My friend from HS Nicole just celebrated her 30th birthday this past weekend. I can't remember how we met, just that somewhere along the way we did. I think that Niki was the reason why since Nicole is her best friend, and I was friends with Niki first. Regardless I am thankful we did. After HS we lost touch for a while, I would keep up on what was going on with her through Niki. Then 5 years ago when Niki got married we reunited. Since then we have been going out to dinner with Sofia about once a month, sometimes a baseball game.... drinks...it is always nice to catch up. Nicole is a teacher, it is so perfect because she is great with children. She just got accepted into a program last week where she will teaching in Japan for a year. I will miss her dearly, but I am hoping that I can visit her once while she is over there.

Her boyfriend planned this weekend for her where he rented a home at the Russian River and we all joined in the fun. The house was REALLY nice and right on the River. It wasn't the weather I had hoped for, but turned out to be lots of fun. We drank, and chatted. It was nice to relax and hang out. We played games, drank, and drank some more. At one point we decided to have a "band shoot" with the "rockband" we made up at the river.

here are some pictures from the weekend...

Finished book number one...

I finished book one of my 50. I read Almost Moon by Alice Sebold first. I have read her other two books "The Lovely Bones" and "Lucky" , and I enjoyed both of those. I thought I would enjoy this one also but nope not so much. It was an easy read, but it really had no point. The ending was terrible. I won't spoil it in case you want to waste your time on it to. One book down and 49 more to go.

A good book is the best escape. I love reading, and feel like I haven't made anytime for it this year. I took a break from my bookswim account and now I am back on the road again. Hold me accountable...my first 3 books arrived today and I am excited to get back into reading.

Here is what I have in my hands now, I will let you know what I think of them. 50 books, starts today..

A little love...

I sent pictures from Kelly's baby blessing over to Kara's party ideas and was jazzed when I got this email:

"I LOVE your baby sprinkle....so much that I bumped today's feature & featured you instead!"

Easter Fun...

Easter came and went this year really fast. Darrian seems to be much more into in than in the past years and it is really fun to enjoy these holiday's through his eyes. This year they had a free Easter egg hunt at the Marina, he really enjoyed it and had fun getting eggs and then playing at the park after. He wanted NOTHING to do with the Easter bunny.

Easter Day we went to church, Darrian did ok. I just spend more time making sure he is quiet instead of listening so I don't feel like I get much out of it. After church we came home did a small egg hunt, and opened baskets. I think Darrian loved the Rosie train Grandma got him the most, and our basket for him was all cars. He was in heaven. We then went to Chris and Ju-ju's for a Easter dinner. It was a good day!

Dancing.

Ivy so pretty!

Lily getting is so cute, and getting so big!
