A baby blessing....

My good friend Kelly is expecting her second child, a little girl... Winter. Greyson is already a good friend of Darrian's and I have enjoyed watching him grow. I can't wait to meet Winter and watch her grow as well. Kelly is a great Mom and I admire the bond she has with Greyson. I have said it before, but again I am very blessed to have met my Mom friends and to grow such great bonds with them. When Kelly found out she was expecting I let her know I wanted to throw her a baby sprinkle. Actually I think I told her BEFORE she was pregnant :). We have done several of them, where we gather and bring snacks and bless the mom-to-be with many blessing as they get ready to welcome a new baby into this world. It is always fun to get together and celebrate.

I had a lot of fun planning this, and went with a Vintage theme for the sprinkle. I have to say this was one of the hardest "theme's" I selected. I spent time looking in antique shops for things, and was lucky to have a couple of wonderful woman lend me lots of things that fit the theme. Darrian and Daddy spent hours playing at the park and it was nice to have the time with just the ladies.

ETA: http://www.marisacakes.com made the cupcakes for the party, and will be doing D's birthday cakes this year too.

The atrium..

Teri who is amazingly talented did henna on Kelly's baby bump.

We wrote well wishes for Kelly and the baby on pieces of fabric that will be made into a quilt.

We did a bead blessing lead by Teri where we all stood in a circle and held this string, we added beads to it. As we added the beads we each said something about the Mom to be. There were tears shed, but good ones. Kelly will wear the bracelet leading up to, and during labor as a reminder of all of us sending good thoughts her way.

Mini Motorland

Grandma and I took Darrian to mini-motorland this saturday. It is a event where they have a mini town set up and kids can ride bikes or battery powered cars around to the different "attractions". I had registered Darrian about 3 months ago, and paid the $8.00 for the event. Darrian got his drivers license in the mail and we were all set to go. Darrian had a lot of fun driving to the drive up window to get juice and treats, also going through the carwash, picking up a book at the library, a flower at the nursery, a atm at the bank... and riding around the circle a bunch of times. :) He did not want to leave, it is a new phase we are in where getting him to leave the park or places is not an easy task. We are working on it, the two's are lots of fun :).

Some pictures of D and Daddy..

A conversation with a 2 year old..

I keep trying to get Darrian on video counting, or doing something. It never works out. I figured I would just get a video of him talking and being himself. I was talking with my friend Kelly a while ago and she mentioned not remembering what her son sounded like when he was D's age. I thought I better capture it before it goes away, and I forget too.

It's Spring time!!

We are so happy in the Thornton house that spring time is here. It is so nice to be able to let Darrian play in the backyard, or to go to parks for him to run around. The past few weekends have been packed with lots of outdoor activities .

We took Darrian to Sonoma with Grandma to get some pictures of him in his "spring cloths". We found out that Darrian doesn't really love the wind. He kept getting so annoyed by it when it started kicking up. It was funny. We went for a walk, had a picnic, and I snapped pictures.

The next day Keith and I took Darrian to ride on the steam trains in Tilden park, then to play at a nearby park. He is CRAZY about trains lately, but the noise of them scares him. He was REALLY freaked out again by the steam train (this one was MUCH smaller than the polar express), but was really happy to see "Donald". He thought the train looked like one from Thomas. I sat with him on the bench and worked on warming him up to the idea. It took a while, but we finally made it on the train and once on he was fine. He loved it. He still ask if he can go ride Donald. At the park Darrian likes to play with children that are older, sadly 6 year olds don't really love playing with two year olds. It isn't at a point where Darrian can notice, and it's fun to watch him try to join in. I am thinking of taking him to go see Thomas but not sure he will love it just yet. I realized I had some pictures of K and I with D but they got deleted so I will have to add them later.

This weekend we had a playdate on Friday with Kelly and Greyson. Darrian REALLY loves them, so do I. He always ask if Greyson is coming over. It is super cute. I am happy it is staying light out longer so we can get together with them for some after dinner park dates. Saturday Auntie Devyn came over and we went and had a picnic at the park. It was so nice to sit and talk, and for her to spend time with Darrian. Darrian also ask about her often, and I love that he loves my friends who are so special in my life.

Sunday we carpooled with our favorite party go-ers Kelly and Greyson. Kelly has been so nice to offer us rides to birthday parties, and I enjoy the time on the road trips. This weekend we headed out to SF for a birthday party at a park there. Emily the birthday girl's Mom did such a good job decorating everything for this party. We had a lot of fun, Darrian of course spent a good chunk of time in a car *shocking*. They also had bubbles, pinata, and a cool playground for the kids. Good times!
