Darrian's 4th birthday..

We celebrated Darrian's 4th birthday last week. It was a low key birthday, but lots of fun was had. It doesn't take much to please a 4 year old. I had to scale way back from years past, and we were lucky enough to win a bounce house which was the highlight of the party. On his actual birthday he went to school and had a celebration with his classmates, then he asked if the whole family could go swimming Quincy and Miles included. So we went swimming at our community pool and came home had dinner, and he opened gifts from Grandma and from us. A couple months back I ordered this race track for him, it wassuch a hit. It is a 4 lane track where all his cars can race down together. The best part, it folds up for storage! So no lost pieces. I am a fan of that. Then on Saturday we had Darrian's birthday party. I worked with Barbara Neeley who did Darrian's 2nd birthday party to do the signs and graphics, I love how it came out.

Darrian loved his birthday party, he loves his friends. I feel so grateful for such wonderful people in our lives who are there for Darrian too. Next year for his 5th we will have a big blowout, the thought that we are headed to 5 years old is crazy to me. My baby is getting so big.

Here are some pictures of Darrian for his birthday celebrations.

Darrian jumping in the pool

Darrian has had a really full summer. Summer camp was a huge hit, and a real life saver. The pool has been lots of fun too. Darrian is very comfortable in the water and this summer started jumping in. He is going to have his first formal lessons soon. Can't wait to see my little fish swim on his own, hopefully next summer.

Twin Kisses, Brothers

I took this video last month of Quincy and Miles. You will see Quincy see me and start to fuss, Miles crawls over rubs his head, gives him a kiss.. and then plops down on him. It is the sweetest thing ever.

7 months

7 months came and went, with no blog update. So sad. I hope that 8 months won't fall in the same pattern. I won't make any promises, truth is it is real hard to find a moment to do this.. but it is important to me so I must. Month 7 was all about mobility. Increase speed in mobility, pulling up, sitting up.. reaching, grabbing, and in Miles case putting EVERYTHING in his mouth. Month 7 took the rhythm that I thought we had and threw it out the window. We never used gates with Darrian, month 7 three kids, two mobile babies had me begging my Mom friends for left over gates. (Luckily we got one). Teething really started kicking our butt. Miles has two bottom teeth, Quincy has two top and two bottom. There are days I wish we never got teeth, I feel bad and don't have enough hands to console two fussy babies.

They are however simply adorable. They are so fun to watch. They love playing together already, babble together, and they even console each other with kisses. It is so sweet to see, and really amazing to watch. They are so different not just in looks, but in being. Quincy is funny. He is the class clown. Funny faces, raspberries when eating (or not), and a smirk that let's you know he has something up his sleeve a mile away. Miles is happy go lucky, off into EVERYTHING. He crawled into the fireplace, through barriers three times. You can not turn your head from him for a moment. When you do, and he is off, I go after him, he picks up speed and squeals and giggles all the way. Miles has been shaking his head "no" for almost two months, this month he taught Quincy that trick. In exchange Quincy taught Miles his signature crinkled nose smile.

My Miles.. those rolls are so squishable.

Quincy my funny guy with the funny expressions..

throwback twin pictures

I was looking back at this blog, mainly to see how much I have been slacking on updating this blog. I realized I never posted these pictures. I think because I was using them for birth announcements and didn't want to share them before they got mailed. I can't believe 8 months later I never did post them. eek. Here they are. Gosh the boys were so tiny, and squishable. It took some serious patient and talent for these pictures. Trying to get just one newborn to sleep, pose and so on is hard.. two makes it impossible almost. Lorraine did a great job, and I am so happy to have these.

I remember the picture below being taken, and I was thinking this is what they looked like inside me. they were only 10 days old. It is crazy what my body did, simply amazing. Quincy left, Miles right.

Two bears

These two bears Darrian has had since he was born. He did not pay attention to them for a long time, then all of a sudden he started to take notice of them. After the boys were born he started calling them Quincy and Miles. He rocks them to sleep, puts them down in the cribs, and even wants to put diapers on them. It is really sweet to see him take care of them the way we take care of his baby brothers, and to be so gentle with them. Very cute.

Summertime..

Summer is here, Darrian is out of school.. and the days are long. :) We have been filling their time with picnics, and daycamp for Darrian. He really has been loving that. It is really reasonable and he goes from 9 am to 3 pm. It was too much of a commitment for us to sign up for a week at a time, but the cool thing is they allow drop in's so we can pick the dates that work for us. We also have a pool set up in the backyard and I put the slide into it to create a mini oasis for Darrian. Our community has a pool and we spend a LOT of time there. Usually once a day, some days twice. It is free, and a great way for Darrian to get his energy out.

The twins have also started eating solids which is fun, it is hard to actually put time aside to feed them both but we try and do it at the same time. Miles isn't very into it, and Quincy is all about it.

thank goodness for jumpers

These keep the boys pretty entertained, Miles is starting to realize it is something to keep him in one place and would rather be crawling around.. but he still enjoys it overall so we are using both of them still.

6 months old..

The twins are (were) six months old! The month went by so fast, and so many changes.
Miles started crawling, Quincy is so close. Miles says "Mama", Quincy is cutting his first tooth. Both are so full of personality and smiles, and laughs. Unique little individuals. I love seeing them smile at each other, or crack up at their big brother Darrian. This is hard work trying to balance three small children, and life.. but it is a lot of fun too. SO much love to go around.

We had the 6 month check ups and their stats were:
Miles was 20 lbs 9.5 oz, 28 inches long, and head 17.5 inches
Quincy was 18 lbs 7.9oz, 27 3/4 inches long, and head 17 1/4

here are the pictures I took of them at 6 months..

Getting Darrian's picture these days is no easy task

This is funny, Quincy does not like that Miles crawls so he is slowing him down .

A few fun friday videos..

Darrian cracks both his brothers up, they get a kick out of him. Last night he had Quincy cracking up, and I caught it on video. That laugh makes me laugh.

Both boys have been rocking on all fours, and inching to get things. Quincy likes to roll, and Miles is really close to full on crawling. I got a video of his inchworm ways.

if you can't see them in email go to www.dnmthornton.blogspot.com

Happy Friday!

Catching up..

(you can click on the picture to make it larger)
Lots going on in the Thornton house in the past few weeks. I have to do seperate blog updates. The babies are both moving but not quite crawling, more like inching, rocking and scooting across the room. We have first words, and first foods. Darrian has been keeping busy with park dates, and swimming. Keith and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. I was able to get out and enjoy some girl time, and a couple of movies. I will update a 6 month update on the babies when I get a chance, hopefully soon.
