Guest Starring Lily ..

Baby D and I went to visit Lily this Sunday, and Malia, Ivy and family. I got to snuggle with her for a long while, and even got to give her a bottle. It is neat how even at this young age you can see a personality come out a bit. She wants to know what is going on, and will stay awake to check it all out. She is very alert. I was able to snag some pictures of her while we were there, she really is a Doll. No surprise since Chris and Julie make lovely little girls.

Baby D did not really seem to know Lily yet, as she gets older she will. He did however like playing with the big girls, Ivy was playing with him a lot this trip. She told me she likes him now that he talks, and eats real food. :) It was cute she kept asking me what he was saying, like I knew or something :). Good trip.

Lily started off with a look of what is that big thing, Malia got her to smile though.

Growing up.. Happy 10 months Baby D..

Baby D is 10 months old today. Wow. Where does time go. He is very mobile, pulls up, cruising while standing faster (holds onto walls), crawls faster.. tonight he even stood on his own for about 40 seconds before I just picked him up because I was too afraid he would face plant on the tile.
Over the weekend we took several of his "baby" things that he once loved to Lily so she can enjoy them as she gets bigger. One being his beloved jumperoo. He has not been inside it for almost two months now, once he got mobile he loved it less. I took it apart to wash the seat, and to get it in the car. Baby D climbed into the middle of it and give it one last play before we passed it on. :)

Update on ME...
I was realizing the other day, that this blog has morphed into baby d's blog for the most part. Not much about me, or Keith at this point. Not that we have anything as exciting to talk about, or that pictures of us would be nearly as cute :).
However, in the past month I have started a new job. I think that is somewhat exciting. I work in the city now. At first I thought to myself that it may be a bit far to travel, would I last with it. I am pleased to say that I really like it, and the commute is pretty simple. Just get on Bart, and get off. No transferring, and I am able to catch up on my reading and so on. Keith and baby D pick me up from Bart, so it is nice to see them right then, and D is always so excited.
It pays better, better benefits/vacation, and overall is better :). I was happy on my last job until after D came, and then things seem to change. I am just starting to catch up in the rest of life with calls and emails, but I am getting there.
Dad's Memorial is Saturday, and I can't believe it has been a month. I am doing okay. I think to myself a lot about him, and how I (hopefully, and sort of sadly) will eventually live more of my life without him that I did with him. How I hope this is opposite for baby D, and how sad it must be to leave a child at any age behind.
I am also slightly obsessed with planning baby D's first birthday, a location has been narrowed down, time still has to be set, decor is on the way... I can't believe in two short months I will be a Mom of a 1 year old. I sometimes can't even believe I have been blessed enough to be a Mom.
Keith is doing fine, used his GC from Father's Day that my Mom got him to upgrade his Iphone. He is very happy with it and showing me all the features it does. He is looking forward to vacation in Mexico, and so am I , although terrified by the logistics of having to get on a plane at 6 am, yes I did just say 6 am!
that is our update, again hope to see/talk/email all of you soon!
Playtime

I have been admiring how Baby D now plays with his toys. He knows how to use them, how to get them to sing, how to open and close things on them. I realize that this is his beginging to a very long (but short felt) childhood of playing. Discovering new things, and imagination. It is fun to watch, and sit back and see him entertain himself. I took some pictures of our playtime this morning.

Look who's excited to go on Vacation

Keith sent me this picture of Baby D today. Totally made my day. I guess he crawled on top of the suitcase, I think he was trying to see if it would zip up with all his toys inside if he sat on it :) . Less than 30 days to Mazatlan!

4th of July..

My Mom was nice enough to invite us to Tahoe for the 4th of July Weekend. I was excited to get away to nature, something about Tahoe, a forest, a tree, a creek that brings us back to our center.

We drove up early Friday, and made it to Tahoe in good timing. Our room was not ready so we went to lunch and then drove around the lake, hung out at the Hyatt. Keith gambled, Mom and I entertained Baby D outside overlooking the pool. We had dinner at the Hyatt, it wasn't very good, and the price was insane.. We hung out after on the beach awaiting for the fireworks, what seemed like forever. When they did start they were worth the wait, and it seemed you could reach up and touch them. Baby D was not impressed, and really was scared. He didn't cry, but did pass himself from Daddy, to Me, to Grandma looking for a escape.

Daddy and Baby D on the beach waiting for fireworks.

Baby D was a trooper, and did really good. It is hard for him being pretty mobile, but not walking.. he wants to get out and explore but hard to let him just crawl on the ground. He really was the perfect baby, not fussing too much and putting up with all the time out and about.

Saturday we hung around the Village, and went to lunch in Tahoe, stopping at a beach for pictures.

The Village view from our balcony, I wanted to take the cable car to top of the mountain, where the pool was, and other fun stuff.. but no one would go with me.

Baby D reading up on the things the hotel had to offer.

Sunday we hung out at the Village before leaving, and I took baby D to the children's room in the village. They had a cool slide with a wheel at the top, and a fun bead table. D loved them both.

How freaking cute is HE??

It was a nice, relaxing weekend, and I think D enjoyed his first trip to Tahoe.

Baby D's 1st birthday bash..
No don't worry you didn't miss it. It hasn't happened just yet. I can't believe he will be turning one in about 2 1/2 months!! I want to really celebrate it, especially with all we have been through this year baby D is by far the greatest gift! So what this post is .. a save the date! His bday party will be on Sept. 14th.. (his actual day), location TBD, but it will be a park. I will of course send out formal invites to you all, but I want you to mark your calendars because I REALLY want you all to come and celebrate with us!
Where is the Sun ?

My Mom and I took Baby D to Half Moon Bay on Sunday.. in an effort to get away from the smoke that lingered. Yes we left the smoke.. but got the fog :( So hard to find the Sun right now in Northern California. Baby D slept most of the way down, waking up when we got there ready for lunch. We ate. Then we went out to sit and overlook the ocean, and play on the grass. He really likes to get outside these days, he loves it.

(he was smiling at Grandma here)

(He has 5 teeth now, the one on the right broke through)
Learning how to blow bubbles.. (sort of :))
Saturday we just hung around the house. With all the fires the air quality has not been great, which leads us to not go out much. Later in the afternoon, as Baby D and I were getting stir crazy we looked outside to see the blue in the sky was showing a bit. I decided we would go out in the backyard to blow some bubbles.
I tried showing Baby D how to do it, although he wanted to eat the wand instead of blowing on it. He was outfitted in Daddy's hat, which was too big but he thought that was funny.
