Blog Challenge #2 all about books

Do you enjoy reading?

Yes. I think I have always enjoyed reading from a young age. It is an escape and I love the books that you can't put down and transport you to other places.

What do you read and when?
I now usually only read on my BART ride to and from work. It gives me an hour each way to read. If a book is really good then I usually find time to read on my lunch break as well. I love to read "realistic fiction" books. I love when a book is believable enough to be a real life story, I especially like when it puts me in other people's shoes and I get to see the story in several "voices". That doesn't mean that I don't love my share of chic-lit :). I think the only thing that I would not buy into is sci-fi type lit. No Harry Potter here, and No Twilight either. I have thought of reading Harry Potter just because I have it, but I can't get into it (yet). You are way more likely to find my nose in Jodi Picoult's newest book.

What's your favorite book ever?

Well this is a REALLY hard one. I don't think I could pick just one.. how about a few that have really made an impression on me.

To Kill A MockingBird for quotes like these two.. this book has always made a mark on me since the day I read it in the 6th grade (I have re-read it several times). Equality.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it"

"They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions... but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience."

Tuesday's with Morrie A book about life's greatest lesson's. This was one I picked up in an airport on the way home from FL and could not put it down, and had it finished by the time I got home. Everyone should read this book, twice. Here are a few of my favorite quotes, but really this whole book is quotable.

"We...need to forgive ourselves...For all the things we didn't do. All the things we should have done. You can't get stuck on the regrets of what should have happened."

"There is no experience like having children...If you want the experience of having complete responsibility for another human being, and to learn to love and bond in the deepest way, then you should have children."

My Sister's Keeper Another book that I could not put down. I love the way she writes, each chapter a different voice and a different look on things.

"You don't love someone because they're perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they're not"

Night I read this long before it was on the Oprah book club list, I think in about the 7th grade. It was so graphic and so telling... I remember thinking how does the human spirit survive such things?

"Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed....Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never."

Ooh! I want to check out a couple on your list! I haven't read to kill a mockingbird in for-EVA so maybe I'll pick that up again, soon. And Tuesdays i want to check out, too.
